If you want a nice island I suggest Koh Lanta, and the Baan Laanta Resort. This resort had great room, service, staff, restaurant and food was very special.
I have been to Lanta many times and there is much to see. I also recomend P'Dang in the bar - the cocktails are great and the staff and fire shows AMAZING. During the days Klong nin is nice for a visit just up the road.
Have a nice holiday and enjoy a great island! I LOVE koh LANTA !!!!!! 100%+

Paradise in Koh Lanta!
A lovely hotel in a great location. The beach and pool are excellent. We particularly liked the rooms above the pool - numbered 12 thru 15. Although scheduled for 6 nights, we returned for a further 3 nights!
The restaurant is really good, and if you need a change, there are some nice places nearby - particularly the Drunken Sailor.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back, and recommend to anyone.

Great Place, lovely room and view, smiling helpful service & good food!
Baan Lanta is in a wonderful position on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Great room in what I think of as the Balinese style. The few mild niggles were more than offset by the general quality, the friendly service, much better food than the (much more highly priced ) resort next door and a great low season value for money price.
Well done Baan Lanta - it is good to see you punching your weight. The final plus is having the best diving school (Scubafish) in Thailand between the dining area and the cheerful bar.

Overall this is a great place if you’re looking for a chilled out, laidback break. The quiet, relaxing and impressive bay is an idyllic location with great sand and near to perfect swimming conditions (albeit on the other end of the beach). With only a couple of small laidback beach bars with restaurants this place is built for chilling out rather than partying and there was no need to visit any of the rest of the island as it felt too much effort!
The hotel itself has very stylish and cosy rooms fusing contemporary and traditional Thai design. We stayed in the sea view villa (furthest from the bar), which was well worth the extra money with a breathtaking view on our balcony that catches the sun all morning. Lovely ornamental pool but your enjoyment is dependent on how many guests are staying there as it’s rather small. Restaurant was fine with good fresh fish and BBQ every night.
Great spa with good range of massage treatments at reasonable prices. Sadly what lets Baan Laanta down is the poor service. Firstly they messed up our booking meaning we had to move to another room for our last night and made no apology for the mix up and furthermore we had to push for a discount. On the whole the staff were friendly but service was slow even for Thai standards and they simply couldn’t handle breakfast when it got busy. It’s a shame as if they can polish up on this the stay would have been perfect.

Amazing Gem in Koh Lanta!!!!
We had a bungalow around the pool, the sea view ones are great but we had a nice view of the pool and the mountains, the walk to the beach is no different. Lovely big beds and the room is all very new and stylish in traditional thai style. Bathroom is large, shame the shower was not great as it really is the only thing letting it down! Beach is a 2 minute walk from the rooms, it is a lovely bay although I am not sure how child friendly at one end of the bay as lots of rocks! If you walk 5 minutes to the other end of the bay the sea is clearer and less rocky.
No sun beds or umbrellas on the beach but this does add to the charm of the place, the beach was NEVER busy and felt very quiet even during the peak period!
We did the 4 island boat trip, worth doing. We did not leave the bay but was only here 4 nights, imagine there is other stuff to do in lanta. Good seven 11 near by and cheap pancakes and fruit shakes on the main road. Must visit the view point bar for the sunset - worth the walk up hill. Why not bar is very good for all ages! very relaxed and a good band on! Same same but different restaurant is very nice, as is phrang nan (I think this is correct) which is almost next door to Baan Lanta. There is a small stream you have to step over when accesssing beach from the hotel but this is not an issue for us, occasional smell but no issue. Lots of crabs on the beach at night!!!
Liked — Lots! On a fab bay set around a lovely pool area with helpful staff. Really nice spacious bungalows.
Disliked — The shower!!! Never got hot and not powerful. Staff not being able to use the visa machine!
Tips/Secrets — Why not bar! Also several places have happy hours on cocktails and beer. You may need to book if you want to go to Same Same but Different restaurant.

The resort is firmly in the mid-range price bracket and good deals can be had in low season or at the beginning of high season but if you're expecting high-end luxury you should be looking at Pimalai at the southern end of the bay (just expect to pay top dollar!)
On the minus side: Some of the rooms with the best views of the bay are also just above the bar and the music can be pretty annoying if you're not a nightowl. Part of the problem seems to be that the management aren't around late at night, so the bar boys (who are all great fun, it has to be said) can pump out the tunes til the early hours. Fine if you're in the mood for knocking back a few cocktails; not fine if you fancy an early night. Rooms 3 and 15 are closest to the bar so avoid. Having said that, a friendly word with the management seemed to do the trick when we stayed and the music was much lower the following night.
Overall, having spent 6 days there we left with a very positive impression and would definitely return.

We stayed for 4 weeks!!!!
Ok - So my husband and I have stayed at Baan Laanta for three years in a row and will go back again next year. We are usually there in June every year and even though this is classified as low season, in our 4 weeks this year it rained for only 3 days! We also get a low season rate on the rooms which is very reasonable.
I've read some of the 'bad' reviews for this resort and I just wanted to clarify some things. Some people have complained about bad lighting - this has been fixed, there is now great lighting in the rooms. The other thing that some people have mentioned is - unfriendly staff. We have found the opposite. Apart from the fact that my husband and I are pretty friendly ourselves and love to chat to people. We did not find them unhelpful. Of course you will find some people that are not completely friendly but this is not the norm.
Our rooms were amazing and the pool is warm most of the year round - this June it was like a bath! The food at the restaurant is fantastic and even in low season it is open all day long.
We love Kantiang Bay because it's a quiet beach and really relaxing but there are a few Bars close by so if you don't like a bit of loud music in the early hours of the morning - don't stay in room 15. Apart from that, if you choose to stay at Baan Laanta you will love it.
Here are a few tips....... 1. Get to know the locals and you'll have an even better stay;....... 2. Hire a bike and ride around the island; 3........ Do the 4 island tour;....... 4. Do a Discover Scuba Diving course with Scubafish (located between the Aqua Bar & Restaurant). The diving & snorkeling is some of the best in the world;....... 5. Learn a little bit of Thai - it will help you get to know people;....... 6. Say Hi to the staff for us! ....... And, Have a great time!

Lovely beach, lovely room, friendly staff!
I did a three-night trip to Koh Lanta and since I had a rental car, I was able to stay at different places each night. I was supposed to stay two nights at Time for Lime cooking school but was not impressed with the bungalows, so I moved (too noisy, too hot and not nearly as nice as indicated on the website; the cooking school, mind you, is fantastic!).
Anyway, I thought Baan Laanta was lovely - great pool (which I had all to myself both days that I used it), gorgeous large, private villa with the most comfortable bed/mosquito net and clean, modern bathroom. I do agree with previous reviews that they need better bedside lighting for reading; otherwise I thought the accommodation was superb.
I ate dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent (fresh crab in a curry sauce; delicious tom ka gai), and the bartender and waiters were friendly and chatty with me, which I find is rare as a single female traveller in Thailand.
The beach, Kantiang Bay, is divine; very beautiful, great for walking, cool little beach bars, etc etc. Overall, a very nice place to stay on a gorgeous beach - the place next door, which didn't look as nice, was twice the price! - so, I would return.

It has been mentioned already, but I will reiterate, the rooms are really dark. They seem to have added some extra lighting but they didn't work. Hot water was intermittent.
The air conditioner worked well, as did the fridge. The bed was comfortable and each villa had a pair of sunlounges on their verandah. Breakfast is included in the price- a range of food and drinks are available. In the 7 days we were there, the pool was used by the dive centre reguarly. Part of the attraction for us was the dive centre, so this was not a problem for us personally.
The pool was quite small, but reguarly cleaned and refreshing in the heat. Beach and pool towels were provided for all guests. The restaurant and bar were both very good, and reasonably priced. Both are right on the beach. There is also a tour operator onsite who can book any island tours, elephant safaris etc. We used him and a number of occassions and found him to be very helpful.

Midway through our 4th trip back to Koh Lanta, thought it was time to put fingers to keyboard and give a review of our accommodation. On our previous 3 visits, we've always stayed at The Narima but given that we came to Lanta to go diving, and the dive centre, Scubafish, we use is in Kantiang Bay, last time we got fed up with making the 2km journey each way by moped in the morning and evening so decided that this time we'd stay somewhere in Kantiang Bay.
We decided to give the Baan Laanta a go and have not been disappointed. Each of the bungalows are lovely - traditional Thai furnishings, a very large double bed and good air conditioning, its everything that we could need to have a fantastic holiday.
Kantiang Bay itself is beautiful - very quiet and unspoilt, a real paradise hideaway ! There are other places to stay but if your budget can stretch to it and you want a little luxury, then the Baan Laanta should be the place for you. Only two (small) suggestions for improvements - better bedside lights that you can actually read by and some form of lock on the bungalow side of the bathroom door - you can lock it when you're in there but for our first week, it was particularly windy and at night the door just banged all night ! If these 2 things were sorted, would have given the resort 5 stars!

Great hotel, location and price!
Gorgeous bungalows with a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the beach with a great price. Not a 5-star, but for the price it can't be beat.
Prices are a third cheaper during low season. Very nice staff, excellent food at the restaurant. It's also adjacent to the Marine Park View Resort, which has the best bar on the island.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Baan Lanta for 6 nights in February. We booked one of the Bay View rooms and these were definitely the best option. In fact, I think we probably had the best one (room 4) as it was very private with amazing views of the beach and also the pool.
On arrival we were collected from Ban Saladan Pier and taken in a comfortable minibus to the resort. It is quite a small resort with just 15 bungalows, but very nicely laid our with lovely flowers everywhere and lit by lanterns in the evening. When we were taken to our room I was very pleasantly surprised. It did look like the pictures on the website, and was really big in comparison to the hotels I have stayed in in the past.
The bed is amazing and the room had a very romantic feel to it. There was a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and the bathroom was much nicer than I had expected. The pool was nice if a little small, but the beach was really nice and incredibly quiet for this time of year.
There were 5 or 6 really nice places to eat and a few decent bars near by - so we had plenty to do for 6 days without hiring a car or scooter. There is a 7/11 just a short walk away which was great for supplies. The only negative points I would have are 1) The lighting in the room, while lovely to relax in, is not sufficient to read in bed. 2) The mirror is not located by the sink - and as it was too dark this caused problems for shaving. 3) The room we had had a tree growing right up the outside of it, and when it was windy, the tree whacked against the wall all night which was very disturbing. 4) There were gaps in the walls, so mosquitos could get in, but with the mosquito net provided to sleep in, we did not get badly bitten.
I would have loved to stay longer and would recommend Baan Lanta to anyone wanting to visit Ko Lanta. From what we saw of the beaches further north, it was well worth staying further south.

We' ve just returned from our 1 week stay at the Baan Lanta Resort & Spa after a 2 week round trip in Thailand. Our overall experience from that place is very good.
We especially liked the facilities (only 2 years old) and the splendid beach. The resort provides 2 different kind of bungalows, ocean view and pool view. Both of them are designed in Thai style with a solid concrete base and nicely worked wood for walls and roof. Both are very spacious (easy to stay for 4 people) and have a nice balcony. If you like it calm, take the pool view as all ocean view bungalows are heading towards the ocean view restaurant and bar and therefore are more noisy.
The pool area is very well maintaned and nice for relaxing. The beach is very wide and almost empty. We liked it a lot inspite of the fact that there is almost no shadow. There are some other resorts on the same beach and among them the very luxurious Pimalai Resort. This allowed us to change easiliy the restaurant in the evening time by a short walk without taking a taxi. Try the "Same same but different" restaurant at the other end of the beach. It was a really nice place to have dinner. If you don' t expect a high quality service but just want to stay at a nice place we really recommend it for you and would personally come back. It is good value for money.

La plage est très sauvage vous êtes situé en dehors des endroits a touriste ne vous attendez pas a avoir une eau turquoise comme la plupart des endroits en Thailande (en basse saison en tout cas)
